How does DRT work?
Worcestershire on Demand buses pick you up and drop you off in the service area and not just at a bus stop. A bus picks you up at your request, changing its route so that all passengers can get to where they need to go. Worcestershire on Demand is designed to help people make essential local journeys.
Your safety is paramount, and we’ve designed Worcestershire on Demand to carry passengers safely. Knowing how many passengers we’re picking up means we can guarantee you a seat and maintain social distancing.
Information about child seats on board
Our DRT services operate with a variety of vehicles. We do not provide child seats on board, as every child is different it would be impossible to meet every individual requirement. Parents and carers are welcome to bring their own child seats if they wish, but please note that responsibility for fitting these rests with the parent or carer. Our drivers cannot assist with fixing child seats in to the vehicle. We are unable to guarantee that the vehicles we operate will have seats suitable for a child seat to be fitted.
Please note that there is no legal requirement for a child to use a car seat when travelling on a minibus, however, children aged three or older must use an adult seat belt if travelling without one. More information can be found using this link: When a child can travel without a car seat: The Law (GOV.UK)
Why has it launched?
To enable more people to use public transport again, Worcestershire County Council is working in partnership with local bus operators to provide DRT services.
Worcestershire County Council wants to understand if flexible DRT services provide a more sustainable way of transport provision compared to fixed route services.
