Attendance information for parents and carers
The Education Engagement Team delivers statutory functions on behalf of the Local Authority, seeking to ensure each child’s and young person’s right to education. Find out about attendance and CME (Child Missing Education) policies.
The Education Engagement Team support any child or young person who is deemed to be a Child Missing Education (CME), who is not registered on a school roll or receiving a suitable education otherwise.
In line with the Department for Education's (DfE) “Working together to improve School Attendance” guidance, parents and carers are encouraged to work in partnership with schools to support regular school attendance.
Schools are expected to work with parents as partners where any barriers preventing regular attendance are identified, in order to best support each individual pupil to be able to attend as regularly as they can.
