Loneliness campaigns and helpful national links

Loneliness campaigns and helpful national links

There are several national loneliness campaigns that aim to raise awareness of loneliness and reduce stigma.

The Marmalade Trust

The Marmalade Trust are an award-winning charity dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and empowering people to make connections.

Take a look at their Guide to Loneliness to help yourself and others manage the feeling.

Each Year the Marmalade Trust host the annual Campaign ‘Loneliness Awareness Week’ which aims to raise awareness of loneliness and get people talking about it, across the UK and beyond. The next Loneliness Awareness Week will take place in June 2025. To find out more and how you can get involved visit Lonliness Awareness Week.

The Campaign to End Loneliness

The Campaign to End Loneliness is a network of national organisations and individuals working through community action, good practice, research and policy to tackle loneliness. For more information, visit Campaign to end loneliness.

Every Mind Matters

Every Mind Matters provide some helpful advice on how to look after your mental health and wellbeing for people of all ages. Take a look at tips on dealing with Loneliness.

Helpful National Links

  • Mind offers practical tips to help manage feelings of loneliness, and other places you can go for support
  • Get involved in social activities offered by the Royal Voluntary Service and Age UK
  • The British Red Cross provide local support services, workshops and resources to help you deal with and overcome loneliness. You can also call their free confidential support line on 0808 196 3651 for advice on loneliness support
  • Learn something new at adult education classes, such as those provided by the University of the Third Age (U3A).
  • Re-engage offer a call companion service for people over 75. Call 0800 716 54
  • Look out for cafés who have signed up to The Chatty Café Scheme. They have a Chatter & Natter table where customers can sit if they are happy to talk to other customers
  • Call The Silver Line for information, advice or just for a chat, 24 hours a day 7 days a week: 0800 470 80 90
  • Sense, the national disability charity supports people who are deafblind or who have complex disabilities to communicate
  • Samaritans are here – day or night, 365 days a year. You can call them free on 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org.
  • The Calm Zone offers a helpline for men in the UK, of any age, who are down or in crisis. Its open from 5pm – midnight every day. Call 0800 585 858

Young People

  • Childline has lots of fantastic resources on making friends, bouncing back from bullying, being assertive, coping with anxiety and taking care of yourself. Call 0800 1111
  • If you are under 25 go to The Mix for help and support.
  • Young Minds can help you understand how you’re feeling, find ways to feel better
  • The National Youth Partnership has some useful resources to help young people begin to tackle loneliness
  • Building Connections in an online service for young people up to the age of 19. The service aims to help young people develop tools that can help build confidence and manage loneliness
