Welcome from the Virtual School Headteacher

Our School aims to promote high aspirations for our children placed in care and previously looked after, to ensure all pupils are given the opportunity to succeed and develop their full potential. We believe that every individual is capable of achieving.

Our Virtual School is not a teaching tool or online learning environment. We do not replace the school or educational provision for our Children Looked After.

We are a statutory service which exists to support and challenge all those involved in the education of children in care. We work primarily with school age children and use the Personal Educational Plan as a vehicle for raising standards and improving educational outcomes. We also support Post 16 learning and Early Years and have a network of staff supporting colleagues and agencies in these areas.

We are dedicated to developing happy and successful students

The Virtual School works closely with colleagues both in education settings and Social Care. The Virtual School highlights the importance of education and educational stability within every decision made about the provision or care of individual children.

The Virtual School will be continuing to support schools, carers and children in these difficult times and will remain available to offer advice and assistance when needed.

There is a list of online resources, for different areas of learning and development. Please see Coronavirus (COVID-19) educational resources for children and young people

Worcestershire Children First Educational Psychology Services have produced a short video to help support children and parents during home schooling: Educational Psychology Support for Parents Homeschooling (Stream website, opens in a new window).

About our website

Our website is designed just to give you a flavour of some of the exciting things that we do here, our children, our achievements, our environment and our ethos.  It aims to be a focal point for everyone working with previously Looked After, Children Looked After and Care Leavers.

It is a place to access information, advice and guidance, link and share best practice and gain a complete picture of the multi-agency work which goes on in support of our young people. We work with a range of agencies and partners to provide an opportunity where self-esteem can flourish and pupils can learn self-reliance, independence and the skills for independent learning.  We aim to help our children become knowledgeable, healthy, responsible and compassionate future citizens.

Worcestershire County Council has corporate parenting responsibility for our Children Looked After and, like all parents, valuing and supporting children's education is one of the most important contributions the Council can make to their lives.

We will continue to offer a unique opportunity and experience for pupils to be educated in an environment, which allows them to explore and deepen their life chances, whilst achieving a high standard of education for life.
