Redditch local cycling and walking infrastructure plan (LCWIP) (DRAFT)

Information on the work for LCWIP taking place in Redditch

Have your say

The draft Redditch Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) was consulted upon for six weeks from Monday 16 September 2024 to Friday 25 October 2024 to obtain public opinion about five shortlisted proposed routes and a walking zone in Redditch town centre. These draft routes were proposed by Sustrans, working on our behalf. The consultation was open to all interested parties.

This followed an earlier survey in 2023 which asked people for their opinions on a draft Local Walking and Cycling Plan for Redditch in order to improve sustainable transport measures across the town, including walking and cycling infrastructure to provide alternatives to the car for local short journeys.

Your response

The consultation engaged with a wide range of people, reflecting the views of residents and organisations in and around Redditch. A total of 101 people responded to the online survey and we would like to thank everyone that took part.

The final Redditch LCWIP and the consultation report is available here for you to read. Conclusions from this analysis were that:

  • there was a high level of agreement with aims and proposals
  • the majority of respondents agreed with all of the proposed walking and cycling routes in Redditch
  • the majority of respondents stated that they would walk and/or cycle more should the routes be delivered as outlined in the plans

People welcomed the opportunity to comment in detail about these proposed routes.

What next?

Your feedback has helped to inform the finalised Redditch LCWIP which sets out the prioritised list of schemes for delivery over the next 10 to 15 years to improve the safety, comfort, and attractiveness of walking, cycling and wheeling. The development of LCWIPs does not guarantee funding but allows Worcestershire to make the case for funding of future cycling, walking and wheeling schemes.
