Libraries and Learning
Coronavirus (COVID-19) information, 28 September 2020
All of Worcestershire’s libraries are now open!
Customers can now browse shelves, return, reserve and borrow books, pre-book public computers and pre-book a desk in the library for research, study and/or use free library wi-fi. Library staff are on hand to answer queries and provide information.
Social distancing and hygiene measures are in place for everyone’s safety. We are managing the number of customers in libraries at any one time and computers and desks are cleaned thoroughly after each use. To comply with government guidance, library visitors need to wear a face covering and register contact details with library staff on entry.
Revised opening hours are still in operation at some libraries, please check details for your local library.
Libraries are still unavailable for group events and activities or as a meeting place. A wide range of online services, activities and events can be accessed via:
- the Digital Library Hub
- Worcestershire Libraries Facebook page (opens in a new window)
- YouTube Channel (opens in a new window)
As all libraries are now open, auto-renewals of items borrowed before lockdown have ceased. Customers must return or renew books before 30 September to avoid overdue fees. Items can be renewed online or by calling the customer contact centre on 01905 822722.
Items borrowed by customers from reopened libraries since 10 August are subject to normal borrowing terms and conditions.
To book a computer session or desk space please go to:
- the mobile library resumed normal service on 7 September with safe, socially-distanced browsing and borrowing; customers are requested to wear a face covering when on board; for further details regarding the Mobile Library Service visit the Mobile Libraries page

Worcestershire Library Strategy
Our Library Strategy which sets out a vision for Worcestershire libraries from 2020 to 2025 has been approved by councillors.
The strategy will shape how library services evolve to meet the changing needs of residents over the next five years. Work has begun to plan how the strategy will be implemented.
