Coronavirus (COVID-19) information for our library users updated 14 September 2020
All of Worcestershire’s libraries are now open!
Revised opening hours are in operation at several libraries, so please check details on local library web pages before planning a visit - Find my library.
Service provision at all open libraries is still limited but customers can now:
- browse shelves and borrow books using self-service kiosks
- return books
- pre-book public computers
- pre-book a desk in the library for study and/or wi-fi
- place reservations as normal
Library staff will be on hand to answer queries and provide information
Social distancing and hygiene measures are in place for everyone’s safety. The number of customers allowed into a library at any one time will be managed; browsing time is limited to 20 minutes and computers and desks are cleaned thoroughly after each use.
Libraries are still unavailable for group events and activities, as a meeting place or a place to spend time reading or relaxing. Customers can access a wide range of online library activities via the Digital Library Hub, Worcestershire Libraries facebook page (opens in a new window) and access on-demand content via the library service's YouTube Channel (opens in a new window).
The return date for all items borrowed before 10 August has been extended until 30 September. Customers must return or renew books before 30 September to avoid overdue fees. Books can be renewed online or by calling the customer contact centre on 01905 822722.
Items borrowed by customers from re-opened libraries since 10 August are subject to normal borrowing terms and conditions.
From 8 August it became mandatory to wear a face covering when visiting a library. Read the GOV.UK information regarding face coverings (link opens in new window).

- the mobile library resumed normal service on 7 September with safe, socially-distanced browsing and borrowing; customers are requested to wear a face covering when on board; for further details regarding the Mobile Library Service visit the Mobile Libraries page

Worcestershire Library Strategy
Our Library Strategy which sets out a vision for Worcestershire libraries from 2020 to 2025 has been approved by councillors.
The strategy will shape how library services evolve to meet the changing needs of residents over the next five years. Work has begun to plan how the strategy will be implemented.
