Repair Cafe

A community led project to inspire repair and reuse

Have you ever thought of having that broken toaster, damaged chair or torn blouse repaired instead of throwing it away and replacing with new?

Based on the original Repair Café concept conceived in Holland in 2009, Worcestershire now has 7 repair cafes where resident can take all kinds of household and personal items to be repaired free of charge.

The first repair café in Worcestershire in Malvern opened its doors in December 2012 and as the longest standing repair café it welcomes on average 52 'repairees' every month. Over the last three years it has repaired over 2000 items, which previously would have been consigned to the bin!

And no repair is too small or too challenging for the teams! After assessment of the broken item, the appropriately skilled repairer will work their magic and by encouraging the repairee to sit with them so that they learn new and/or revive forgotten practical skills.

There is no charge for the repair and advice service but donations are welcome and these help to cover costs and ensure that the service remains free for everyone at the point of delivery.
