Autism & Me (Developed by Autistic Young People) Workshop for Parent Carers

A workshop for parents, carers, and family members of young people with SEND who are interested in understanding autism.

Every autistic young person experiences the world in their own unique way. This free, interactive workshop will provide parents and carers with first-hand insights from autistic young people, helping to build understanding and develop strategies for support.

Who it is for

This session is for parents and carers of young people with SEND, particularly those with autism, who want to understand their perspective and improve communication and support.

What to expect

From the workshop, you can expect:

  • insights from autistic young people on their experiences, challenges, and strengths
  • strategies for supporting communication, sensory needs, and emotional wellbeing
  • a deeper understanding of behaviours and what they might mean for your child
  • a chance to ask questions and explore useful resources

Session details

This is a two-hour interactive workshop featuring real-life experiences and practical discussions.

Takeaway

By the end of the session, parents and carers will have a better understanding of autism from the young person’s perspective and practical approaches to support them effectively.

SENDIASS workshops are delivered in partnership with Learning Services Worcestershire

Most of our workshops are subsidised by the Department for Education (DfE). They require us to collect information from learners to monitor how we use the funding they give us. After booking, you will need to provide extra enrolment data. We only collect necessary information and use it in line with the Worcestershire Learning Services privacy notice. Without this information, we may not be able to offer you a place. Your cooperation helps us to continue to provide our workshops for free, thank you.
