Airport baggage handlers load and unload luggage and cargo at an airport. Once passenger leave their luggage at the check in desk, baggage handlers will collect and move the luggage and make sure they are loaded on to the correct plane. Baggage handler also load the planes with supplies such as food and drink.

- Cleaning inside aircraft
Baggage handlers work both in and outside of the airport. Shift work is normal in this role including weekends, early mornings and nights.
Baggage handler work around 37 to 45 hours.
Starting salary: £15,000
There are no specific entry requirements to become a baggage handler but some employers may prefer you to have a few GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), particularly in maths and English. Other employers may be more flexible. Experience of warehouse work and an LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) or forklift truck licence could be helpful when applying directly for this role. You could also apply for an apprenticeship.
If you have an EHCP you may be able to apply under the DfE exemption which allows the apprentice to use Entry level 3 English and Maths qualifications. The apprentice would have to be component enough to successfully achieve all other aspects of the apprenticeship requirements, become occupationally competent and achieve Entry Level 3 in English and Maths before the end of their apprenticeship
