Overview

Charity fundraisers organise events and activities to encourage people to donate to causes and organisations and are passionate and believe in the charity they work for. They need to have sales, good communication, IT and social media skills. Be resourceful and have the ability to build and keep professional relationships and be creative thinking. They would also be a need for admin and project management skills.

Key Activities
  • Look for potential funding sponsors
  • Plan and organise events and activities
  • Keep records of all sponsors
  • Organise campaigns to help lead to donations
  • Recruit and train volunteers
Workplace

You could be working outside asking people to sign up and donate to charities on a monthly basis or call at people’s homes. Work from different venues for events and activities or work in an office where you would be using the phone to contact people to sponsor the charity.

Working Hours

37 to 39 hours per week- can also be part time hours and usually evenings and weekends.

Salary

Starting salary: £20,000

Experienced salary: up to £60,000

Qualifications

Some organisations will give full training where you can work your way up to a higher position. For more experienced roles you would need a degree. Many charity fundraisers have A-levels and hold a degree.
