Massage Therapists tend to work 37 to 39 hours a week but this is variable. You could work evenings and weekends to suit customers demands.

Salary

The salary for a Massage Therapist is variable and dependent on whether you are self-employed or work for someone else.

Qualifications

You can get into this job through a college course or an apprenticeship.

You could take a course at college that would give you some of the skills and knowledge needed for this role, such as Level 3 Diploma in Massage or Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy. You'll usually need 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent for a level 3 course.

You could also apply for an apprenticeship. If you have an EHCP you may be able to apply under the DfE exemption which allows the apprentice to use Entry level 3 English and Maths qualifications. The apprentice would have to successfully achieve all other aspects of the apprenticeship requirements, become occupationally competent and achieve Entry Level 3 in English and Maths before the end of their apprenticeship.
