Designated Clinical Officer for SEND

 

The role of the Designated Clinical Officer (DCO) for SEND is to provide a point of contact for the local authority, schools and settings to understand information about health services and for health services to understand information about education. The DCO is responsible for ensuring that assessment, planning and health support is carried out by health providers and agreeing the health services within an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP).
