Compostable packaging

Most “compostable” packaging cannot be put into a home compost bin as the temperature required to biodegrade it isn’t achieved in these bins.  It is designed to go into Anaerobic Digestion plants, which is commercial composting.

Check for this sign. If the packaging has this on it, you can put it in your home compost bin.  Otherwise put the packaging in your black/grey bin.  

 

Please do not put this packaging in your green bin - it will not be recycled.
