Worcestershire County Council’s Adult Learning service has been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s national Family Learning Awards.
The Family Learning Awards, organised by the lifelong learning initiative Campaign for Learning and the National Centre for Family Learning, celebrate imaginative, innovative and engaging initiatives across the UK that make a real difference to families and their communities.
The STEM Learning Award recognises organisations that best demonstrate imaginative, engaging, and innovative approaches to deliver family learning.
Adult Learning Worcestershire’s Family Learning team have been shortlisted for the 2025 STEM Learning Award, recognised for their Solar System & Beyond course.
The course, carried out in Worcestershire primary schools with parents/carers joining their child, weaves Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths into a friendly, inclusive, and fun learning experience.
Jessica Harris, Family Learning Manager at Adult Learning Worcestershire said: “We are so proud to be shortlisted for a Family Learning Award from the Campaign for Learning. They single out those making a difference in inspiring engagement, and I am over the moon that our Solar System & Beyond course has helped spark enthusiasm for STEM subjects and careers across schools in Worcestershire. I am incredibly proud and humbled to see our work recognised on a national learning stage, and it would not be possible without our dedicated team - but most importantly, I want to thank our amazing learners, who are at the heart of everything we do.”
The Family Learning Awards recognise organisations that have used new approaches and collaborations in the past year to create inclusive learning opportunities for families.
Miranda Baxter, Deputy Director, Campaign for Learning said: “The Family Learning Awards recognise and celebrate exemplary and effective family learning initiatives taking place nationally. And every year the judges are bowled over by the calibre of applications and standards of excellence across what is an exceptionally diverse and specialist sector in the UK.
Family learning is about creating rich learning experiences and stronger relationships that transform thinking, boost skills and create a lifelong culture of learning.”
Winners of the Family Learning Awards will be announced on 12 June 2025.
