Worcestershire County Council shortlisted for a prestigious national award

Worcestershire County Council has been shortlisted for a prestigious Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Award; it has been announced today.

The County Council’s ‘Open for Business’ entry has earned a place on the shortlist in the ‘Economic Support’ category. 

The annual awards are the biggest celebration of excellence in Local Government.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills, at Worcestershire County Council said: “This is fantastic news. To be shortlisted is a testament to the dedication of all involved so I would like to take this opportunity to thank all colleagues and partners who are committed to delivering the best for our local economy. 

“I would also like to thank our local businesses for all their hard work and engagement which has enabled us to create a targeted package of support. 

“I am immensely proud of all involved and is fully deserved.”

The awards submission outlined how the Council is playing a key role in supporting the local economy by creating an environment to encourage growth; and highlights the effectiveness of partnership working and engagement with local businesses.

Worcestershire County Council is committed to removing barriers to growth and supporting the development of a sustainable economy. This is delivered through effective commissioning, development of key employment sites, partners working together for one Worcestershire; improving connectivity across road, rail and digital, and the ongoing delivery of a responsive business support programme.

The winners of the LGC Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 8 June.
