Work is progressing at pace on the transformation of Worcester’s Shrub Hill Quarter, with the demolition of Unit 1 now well underway.
This milestone marks a significant step forward in reshaping the city’s eastern gateway into a modern, vibrant destination
Following several weeks of preparatory activity, including the safe removal of internal fixtures and fittings, demolition crews are now dismantling the distinctive blue corrugated unit and adjoining brick tower at Shrub Hill Industrial Estate.
The demolition and site clearance works are expected to continue until the end of August.
Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member for Business and Skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: “I’m pleased to see demolition works now progressing well. This visible activity underlines our commitment to the long-term regeneration of the Shrub Hill Quarter. It’s a significant milestone in unlocking a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a thriving new area for Worcester - somewhere people will want to live, work, and spend time.”
The Shrub Hill Quarter regeneration is a joint initiative between Worcestershire County Council, Worcester City Council, and the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, working together to breathe new life into this key part of the city.
Backed by the Government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund, the project aims to deliver a bold new district featuring high-quality homes, employment space, and engaging public areas.
