Play area at Worcester Woods to reopen this weekend

Over the past two months, extensive works to improve the junior play area at Worcester Woods have been underway. 

As well as new play equipment, landscaping and boulders have been added to encourage exercise, movement, creativity and build confidence in early years children, in a safe outdoor setting.

Favourites such as the basket swing and roundabout, designed to encourage group play, were kept. Families will be able to enjoy this space once again this summer.

Leaves of Green, who were carefully selected to work on this project, have been natural play pioneers for over 20 years and are based in Pershore. 



They have completed works in very challenging times due to the pandemic, shortages in materials, and soaring temperatures we saw in July. As well as being a local company, the timber Leaves of Green have used is also locally grown in the county.

Councillor Matt Dormer, cabinet member with responsibility for communities at Worcestershire County Council said, “Leaves of Green have done a wonderful job updating our much loved play area at Worcester Woods Country Park. Now that works are almost complete, we are looking forward to seeing families enjoying the new play area and discovering all the new additions. We hope that people will be enjoying the hard work put into the play area for many years to come.”

Over the past 11 years, the play areas at the Country Park have been enjoyed by many children. 

The project to refurbish the junior play area had to be brought forward due to extreme wear and tear on the equipment, caused by increased visitor numbers throughout the pandemic.
