New adult learning courses

A new year of Adult Learning Worcestershire courses gets underway this September, giving adults across the county the chance to gain skills for everyday life and to boost employability.

Adult Learning Worcestershire, part of Worcestershire County Council’s Learning Services, deliver courses in friendly, supportive settings across the county, including their dedicated learning centres at Fairfield in Warndon, Worcester, Willow Trees at Church Hill in Redditch, within Worcestershire libraries, and also online. The programme is built around being “For work, for life, for you!”

This year’s courses include:

• Creative Skills – clothes making, textiles, art, drawing, poetry, and creative writing
• Digital Skills – essential digital skills for life and work, Microsoft Office, and beginner IT
• English, ESOL and Maths – Functional Skills qualifications to strengthen everyday literacy and numeracy
• Hair & Beauty – diplomas in women’s hairdressing and make-up, including theatre and media
• School Support – Level 2 Certificate in Support Work in Schools
• SEND workshops – for parents, carers, and professionals on EHCPs, preparing for adulthood, autism awareness, and the graduated approach.

Councillor Alan Amos, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Business and Skills, said, “Adults deserve as many routes as possible to build their skill-set and secure good jobs. I am already spearheading the drive for more adults to look at apprenticeships and Skills Bootcamps to support them into employment, and any course that helps adults gain skills and confidence for life and for work is a real boon for them and for Worcestershire’s economic future.”

Anna Lee, Manager of Learning Services for Worcestershire County Council, added, “I’m really excited to see what the new academic year brings, and looking at our range of courses starting in September, I know that our learners will gain so much from them. Our Adult Learning offer helps people build confidence and practical skills that make a real difference at home, in the community, and at work. Whether you’re upskilling for employment or learning something new for life, there’s a course for you.”
