A public engagement for the development of Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) across the South Worcestershire towns of Pershore, Droitwich Spa, and Malvern and Worcester City, has launched today

The LCWIP initiative forms a key part of Worcestershire County Council’s long-term strategy to promote active travel and support healthier, more sustainable transport options.

Once developed, the plans will identify priority routes and infrastructure improvements to make walking, wheeling, and cycling safer, more accessible, and more attractive for residents and visitors alike.

While LCWIPs do not come with direct funding, having adopted plans will ensure that County Council and its partners are in a better position the to secure investment as future funding opportunities for active travel become available.

Councillor Karl Perks, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said, “We want to hear from everyone – whether you walk your children to school, cycle to work, or use mobility aids to get around. Your input will help us design a network that works for all ages and abilities, making active travel a safer and more convenient choice.”

The Council is now inviting residents, businesses, and community groups to contribute to shaping the proposed networks. This engagement phase is vital to ensure the LCWIPs reflect the needs and aspirations of local communities.

The engagement period runs until Friday 31 October 2025, and will include online surveys and interactive maps to gather public feedback. Insights gathered during this phase will inform the final LCWIP reports, which will support future bids for infrastructure funding.
