Works to create an improved walking and cycling route in Evesham got underway this week.

The improvements, being made by Worcestershire County Council, commenced on Monday 27 June on the footpath between Honeysuckle Close and St Davids Drive.

The works will see the widening of the footpath to create a new shared use cycle/footway to form part of the National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 41 through Evesham.

Councillor Mike Rouse, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport at Worcestershire County Council said, “Making improvements to walking and cycling routes across the county is important to the County Council, and we know enhancing the network in and around Evesham is something that the residents of the town are keen to see.

“The improvements between Honeysuckle Close and St Davids Drive, will link in with other works taking place soon in this area to make improvements to the National Cycle Network.”

The works to widen the footpath, which include the installation of new fencing, will take place under a closure of the footpath for the duration of the works.

The improvements will be followed by works between St Margarets Road and Davies Road, to construct a wider shared use footpath and to install new fencing. These works will also take place under a closure of the footpath and, once complete, will form part of the NCN Route 41.

The overall works are set to last for up to three weeks.
