The environment remains a priority for the county council and 2023 has seen continued work into preserving and protecting our environment for future generations.

  • a total of 50,000 trees have now been planted, as part of 150,000 5 year target in 2022
  • the County Council has achieved a 45% reduction in net Greenhouse Gas emissions (since 2009 to 2010)
  • 21,000 streetlights upgraded to new LED since April 2022
  • and nearly 500 Natural Flood Management measures are now in place across the county
