The Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Mrs Beatrice Grant has issued the below statement, following the news this morning that the Bishop of Worcester will be retiring in October.

She said:
“Following the announcement of his retirement this morning, I would like to send my heartfelt thanks to Bishop John for all he has done over the past 17 years for the Diocese of Worcester, the County of Worcestershire and the wider communities.

He has been a kind friend to me and touched many people’s lives over the years.  His humour, charm, deep spiritual and dignified presence will be sorely missed.  I wish him and his wife many happy years of retirement.”
