It's Never Too Late To Change Direction!
Worcestershire County Council has unveiled a new push for its Skills Bootcamps program, aimed at empowering people who are looking to switch careers and discover new opportunities.

Skills Bootcamps are intensive training programs, of up to 16 weeks for people aged 19 and over that live in Worcestershire or are looking to work in the county. They are designed to reskill or upskill people for industries with high demand for workers. At the core of the new push is the slogan, ‘It's Never Too Late to Change Direction’ promoting the belief that people of all ages have the potential to redefine their career paths, embrace new challenges and build a fulfilling professional life through Skills Bootcamps.

Worcestershire County Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Skills, Investment and Economy shared his enthusiasm for the new campaign, "We want to help people gain the skills they need to meet the challenges of tomorrow and, working with fantastic training providers and county businesses we can achieve this. We are dedicated to supporting individuals in Worcestershire as they navigate career transitions. With funding from government’s ‘Skills For Life’ initiative we can continue the hugely successful Skills Bootcamp program across Worcestershire, reaffirming our commitment to foster a skilled and resilient workforce.”

Abigail Jones, Worcestershire Skills Bootcamps Manager, said she was proud of the program's achievements, "We are thrilled to see people doing Skills Bootcamps and going on to achieve great things. I’ve seen people join them to upskill, seen businesses put forward employees to reskill, and I was speaking to one person who had completed a construction Skills Bootcamp so he could start his own business after a decade working in a factory. His journey not only signifies personal growth but also showcases the potential for people to kickstart new careers. It’s never too late to change direction and we take pride in providing people in Worcestershire the opportunities to do that."

Skills Bootcamps in Worcestershire continue thanks to a £1 million funding boost from government with around 200 local people already gaining new skills and employability through them. Each participant carries out training, for free and can gain a guaranteed interview with an employer upon successful completion. Local business can also receive subsidised opportunities to reskill their workforce through them too. Skills Bootcamps are available in areas such as construction, nursing, digital skills, data, health and social care, leadership, plumbing and more.
