Worcestershire Businesses, tired of the ‘Rogue Trader’ label can now sign up for the new trader scheme.
Worcestershire County Council’s Trading Standards service is pleased to announce a partnership with United Knowledge Ltd to provide a new ‘Trading Standards Approved’, trader’s scheme.
This scheme aims to support both local businesses and consumers, providing honest traders with a way to be identified as such and stand out from the crowd.
From April 2023 consumers will be able to find a Trading Standards approved trader and have extra levels of confidence that comes with the accreditation.
The scheme covers a wide range of trades and businesses, so whether consumers are looking for a reliable plumber, pest controller, landscaper, electrician, or other contractor, they will soon be able to find a Worcestershire approved trader.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member for Communities at Worcestershire County Council said, “Our Trading Standards team is committed to protecting consumers and supporting legitimate business in Worcestershire. Honest businesses are also victims of rogue traders when their trade is linked to dishonest practices and their reputations tarnished.”
Paula Hines from United Knowledge Ltd said, “We are pleased to welcome our new partners on-board. We are looking forward to working with Worcestershire County Council and the local business community to make this scheme a success.”
Councillor Marcus Hart added, “Schemes such as this offer additional protection to consumers as well as clear procedures for resolving problems, which benefits both consumers and businesses.”
Business operators who believe they have what it takes to be Trading Standards Approved should go to the Trading Standards Approved website to apply for membership.
Approved businesses will be able to use the schemes logo on their vans, paperwork, and adverts.
