The Ready Steady Worcestershire Summer Programme is well underway in Worcester.

One of the providers hosting activities in the Worcester City district is the Swan Theatre Summer School.

There really is a feel of the West End coming to Worcester as experienced theatre practitioners will open the curtain on proceedings, providing excellent support and mentorship throughout and offering industry level guidance and feedback.

There is something for everyone, whether they just enjoy drama or they're a budding actor, the Swan Theatre Summer School will be a place for them to learn, hone their craft and hopefully gain a love for live performance.

Our sessions are suitable for anyone between the ages of 5 to 17, with each session costing £20.

Subject to availability, spaces for children who normally receive Free School Meals, are free of charge.

This is funded by the wider Holiday Activities and Food programme, a government funded scheme to make Summer Activities and Food available to all families. This scheme is in addition to the receipt of Free School Meal vouchers.

Food is being provided by Ma Baker's, and will be delivered to the Swan Theatre every day before noon, just in time for the lunchtime interval.

Owen Harper, at the Swan Theatre Summer School, said: “The Swan Theatre Summer School aims to provide a weeklong workshop experience for children and young people in Worcester and the wider three counties. Our goal is to allow people to explore drama and performance through a workshop-style programme, which will revolve around drama-centred activities, creative confidence-building and performance techniques.”

Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member for Education said: “It’s fantastic to be able to see the Ready Steady Worcestershire programme now up and running, and allowing children to learn new skills and have new experiences during their summer break, whilst staying locally in Worcestershire. I look forward to hearing more stories from the providers as the summer holidays continue.”
