Looked after children and young people from across Worcestershire came together last week to enjoy the county’s annual Fun Day, organised by Worcestershire County Council’s Youth Voice team.
Young people declared this year’s theme of ‘Sport and Sensory’ – with the event offering a wide range of activities for children of all ages.
Children enjoyed bouncy castles provided by BBC Inflatables, face painting by Funky Faces, animal encounters with Animal Mania, and hands-on creative stations run by Green Fingers and Museums Worcestershire.
Children also enjoyed a barefoot sensory walk, music and art, alongside more active options led by the team from Freedom Leisure, who helped keep children engaged throughout the day despite the warm weather.
The event also featured a visit from West Mercia Police who chatted to our young people throughout the day. The team’s positive and friendly presence helped reinforce the message that the police are there as a safe and supportive service.
Councillor Justin Bowen, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, at Worcestershire County Council said: “This event is an important opportunity for our looked after children and young people to come together and enjoy a fun, welcoming day of activities. I’d like to extend sincere thanks to Celena and the Youth Voice team for the care and hard work they put into making it such a positive experience.”
The event was generously supported by WPC Software.
Each child left with a goodie bag filled with things they had made, decorated or won - a small reminder of a day spent having fun, being creative, and trying new things in a safe, inclusive environment.
