The Commercial Team are looking for experienced procurement professionals and new faces to the service to join our team.

The Commercial Team work with colleagues across the Council and associated organisations to carry out sourcing exercises that deliver robust contracts and get great value for money.  

Working in Commercial covers the full range of the procurement lifecycle from market engagement to contract management and closure. We spend the Worcestershire pound as if it were our own and ensure the Worcestershire pound goes far towards supporting communities, businesses, and the environment in Worcestershire. 

This is an exciting time to join the Commercial Team as we are implementing our Corporate Procurement Strategy and are looking to make our service as efficient as possible. We are very interested in you to join us on this journey to achieve our goals!

Apprentice

We take apprentices through our Business Administration Apprenticeship programme. This is a great first step to finding out more about the Council is supported by the Apprenticeship team throughout!

Category Officer

Category Officers are at the heart of our procurement processes and support their Category Managers and Strategic Category Leads with their sourcing exercises and managing their contracts.

Category Manager

Category Managers specialise in their specific sub-categories such as procurements of Children’s Services or IT. They make tactical procurement decisions that allow the Worcestershire Pound to thrive.

Strategic Category Lead

Strategic Category Leads are responsible for one of the three spend categories (People, Place or Corporate) and the Category Managers and Category Officers within the category. They ensure quality of delivery against competing priorities ensuring the authority gets the right mix of cost, quality, flexibility along with sustainability and social impact.

Head of Commercial

The Head of Commercial provides direction and vision for the whole Commercial Team and empowers them to deliver their individual responsibilities to collectively deliver corporate priorities of Open for Business, Children and Families, the Environment, Health and Wellbeing whilst ensuring that relevant legislation is followed and any new legislation or best practice are adopted by the Council.
