Learning for Sustainability

About our programme

Our Learning for Sustainability programme is a key part of the Council's Sustainability work. Ensuring that children are educated on sustainable development, with environmental protection, biodiversity, global dimensions and energy use all covered, is vital for our future. Learning for sustainability also allows children to develop their own passion for action on sustainability, with the opportunity to put their learning into practice through reducing the environmental impact of their school. The skills and knowledge that pupils gain can be transferred out into their homes and communities.

Learning for sustainability helps pupils to develop the knowledge, values and skills to participate in decisions which affect how we impact on the planet. These skills help pupils to develop in their role as our future citizens.
