Become a Dementia Friend this Dementia Action Week

Published: Friday, 17th May 2019 dementia

Next week is Dementia Action Week which is organised by the Alzheimer’s Society. Why not take this opportunity to become a Dementia Friend?

Dementia Friends provides an understanding of what it’s like to live with the condition and the actions that will make a real difference.

Many of us worry about ‘saying the wrong thing' to someone with dementia, yet a friendly face or listening ear can make the world of difference.

Chatting to someone with dementia, showing patience in a checkout queue – every action, big and small can make a real difference for someone with Dementia.

To become a ‘Dementia Friend’ you can either watch a short video which is about 5 minutes long, in which you will hear from people living with dementia and learn how you can help. To access the video visit https://www.dementiafriends.org.uk/register-digital-friend

Or alternatively you could attend an information session in your local community. These sessions are more in-depth and last around 45 minutes. To find an interactive session in your local area visit https://bit.ly/2YEcNLt#
