Two new major road improvement schemes were discussed at the Council’s Cabinet today.

Two new major road improvement schemes were discussed at the Council’s Cabinet today.

On the agenda for discussion was the North West Worcestershire Corridor (NWWC) Kidderminster and Hagley scheme and the A44 / A4538 scheme between Evesham and Worcester.

The two schemes could bring significant improvements to  the county’s major road network, and would look to build on previous major infrastructure improvements in the county such as the Hoobrook Link Road, Southern Link Road and the Pershore Northern Link Road.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member for Economy, Infrastructure & Skills, at Worcestershire County Council said: “This item at Cabinet marked a significant stage as we look to progress these two important schemes. We know that these schemes will help us address the congestion issues that residents have raised with us for many years. The approval will see us progress the business cases for both schemes towards Outline Business Case stage, and look further ahead to key components such as identifying the timetable for stakeholder engagement, planning permission, land acquisition and funding mechanism for the schemes.”

Now Cabinet has made a decision at today’s meeting, further development and submission of the Strategic Outline Case for the NWWC Scheme will be made to Midlands Connect this Winter to progress the project.
