Libraries across Worcestershire have a right royal schedule of activities this half term, as we continue to countdown to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

There is something for everyone as we put up the bunting, and crown our very own mini Kings and Queens of Worcestershire.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “Our libraries always offer a variety of events to keep boredom at bay whilst school doors are shut and I’m pleased to say that this half term is no exception. There is something for everyone, as we look forward to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Libraries are very much community hubs, offering services for the whole community all year round.”

The Hive are helping us put up the bunting, with a free drop-in activity, to make your very own Jubilee crown and bunting; sessions run at 11:00am and 3:00pm from Sunday 29th May through to Wednesday 1st June.

Bromsgrove Library are hosting a Royal Afternoon Tea Party on Monday 30th May for 2pm – the event is suitable for 5-11 years,  you can craft your crown and postage stamp, play some games and finish off with a delicious tea party!  £1 per child with younger siblings welcome.  To book your place please telephone 01905 822722 or speak to a member of library staff.

Evesham Library are making sure all of our furry friends are ready to celebrate to with a Corgi Craft Session on Saturday 4th June from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.  The Corgi's need a new coat, and you could make them look like royalty. This is suitable for all ages and free of charge.

Worcestershire Libraries will be taking part in The Big Jubilee Read, a reading for pleasure campaign that celebrates great reads from across the Commonwealth.

70 titles have been chosen from a ‘readers’ choice’ long list with ten books from each decade of HM The Queen’s reign.

Many of the books on the list are available from your nearest library to borrow or available to loan digitally via Borrowbox. Discover the full list here or drop into your nearest library to find out more!
