Worcestershire County Council is working with Public Health England (PHE) Midlands to support The Inn at Welland, in Malvern, after 2 members of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The staff members worked in a very small group of 5 last weekend. All 5 are now self-isolating for 14 days.

A customer of the business has also tested positive. Contact tracing is underway.

The Inn at Welland has stringent Covid-19 measures in place for staff and customers and is fully co-operating with Environmental Health teams.

The Inn at Welland remains open, with a comprehensive package of measures in place to keep everyone safe.

Dr. Kathryn Cobain, Director for Public Health in Worcestershire said: “Our teams have quickly identified the  positive cases and have acted promptly to reduce the risk of Covid-19 spreading. The Inn at Welland is already operating under robust Covid-19 procedures and we will continue to support the business to remain open and to keep customers and staff safe. Covid-19 is in our communities, and none of us should be complacent. It is always important to wash our hands, use face coverings where necessary and keep our distance. It is particularly important that if you have a symptom of Covid-19, you self-isolate. This all helps to prevent the virus spreading. “

A spokesperson for the Inn at Welland said: “The safety of our staff and customers is of paramount importance to us. We have worked hard to ensure our safety measures are followed at all times and we are working very closely with the authorities to ensure we are following best practice. We are open, welcoming our customers and taking great care of their safety and comfort. We wish our affected staff members a speedy recovery.“
