As schools prepare to re-open from today, Worcestershire County Council has confirmed that Home to School transport will be provided.

The Council has confirmed that it will be providing transport to schools from today, whilst continuing to follow the Department for Transport guidance around social distancing on transport at all times.

During the lockdown, the Council has worked with schools to help provide school transport to children of key workers.

Parents are still advised, where it is possible, to take their children to and from school to help minimise the risk of contracting and spreading the virus.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “I’m really pleased that we have been able to provide some Home to School transport as schools are beginning to re-open. I’d like to thank all the staff, in our schools, our transport operators and here at the local authority, for the tireless work and preparation that has gone in to help make the return to school as smooth as possible.

We appreciate the importance of education for our young people and are keen to minimise the impact of its loss, and we are committed to striving for the right balance in achieving the return. The highest priority and consideration remains the same as it has throughout; the safety and wellbeing of Worcestershire’s children, young people, families and staff."
