“Amazing”, “Outstanding” and “Fantastic” are just some of the words used to describe the support being offered by Worcestershire County Council’s Adult Social Care team this week.
A local care provider in Worcestershire has praised the “amazing” support they have received from Adult Services.
Kelly Smith is the registered manager for Endurance Care, which offers community based services for 16 adults who live with learning disabilities in the Kidderminster area.
She wrote to Worcestershire County Council’s Adult Social Care Team to thank them for the help she has received to source personal protective equipment (PPE) and for the smooth testing process.
Kelly said: “I wanted to put in writing how amazing I think WCC have handled this pandemic, as we are all quick to moan and point blame when things go wrong, but often forget to send praise.”
Kelly’s work involves helping people move from a residential setting into their own homes and holding their own tenancies. At the start of the pandemic she struggled with shortages of masks running in to the hundreds as her staff have been using more due to service users shielding. She has noted the quick, effective responses from the county council.
“The level of support available to us all, is outstanding.” She added. “It is nice to know we can seek support if needed and that we always get a response.”
During the pandemic so far, Worcestershire County Council has been able to source and distribute 171,000 masks, 230,000 gloves and 76,000 aprons.
Kelly also went on to praise the rollout of the testing programme, which she described as “a smooth process to follow.
“The information we are provided with is fantastic, especially the ‘easy read’ items we have been using.
“Please extend my thanks to the teams, it’s very much appreciated. I feel privileged to manage care homes within Worcestershire.”
Councillor Adrian Hardman, cabinet member for Adult Social Care echoed this praise saying: “I have seen staff working long hours and going above and beyond to provide this level of support. It is so good to have their dedication and commitment recognised by our providers. Thank you, Kelly, for coming forward with these comments, which makes such a difference to the morale of our staff."
