Worcestershire County Council has appointed a new Strategic Director of People
Paula Furnival, will be joining the County Council after previously being the Executive Director of Adult Social Care at Walsall Council.
Paula has more than 20 years of experience in social care. Most recently in her time at Walsall, she led on a new joined up approach for health and social care called ‘Walsall Together’.
Walsall Together is an approach to working better across a range of organisations to improve outcomes for Walsall citizens, one of the County Council’s key priorities here in Worcestershire.
The Walsall Together approach saw Paula consistently work alongside and develop good working relationships with public health, children’s and adult’s services and other public sector partners, all with one common goal.
She has worked also extensively in supporting children and adults, holding roles in the NHS and in local government in different parts of the country.
Paul Robinson, Chief Executive of Worcestershire County Council, said: “I’m really looking forward to welcoming Paula to Worcestershire, as she joins our Strategic Leadership Team.
Her wealth of knowledge and experience will be vital as we look to improve outcomes and promote independence for our residents across the county. I would also like to thank Elaine Carolan for all her hard work and dedication whilst in the interim position.”
Elaine Carolan will return to her substantive role of Assistant Director for Social Care.
The new directorate of People has been created as part of the County Council’s ongoing Organisational Redesign.
It encompasses Adult Social Care, Communities, Public Health and the Council’s working relationship with Worcestershire Children First.
