Works to improve transport links in the Churchfields area of Kidderminster are set to take another step forward next month.
So far, works have focused on clearing the land on the former CMS site and a range of utility diversion works around the new entrances to the link road off the roundabout to Churchfields. The next phase of works will see part of Churchfields turned into an A-road and the reconfiguration of the Horsefair.
Works will include full reconstruction of the highway and footways and the installation of new drainage. Utility companies will also make use of the closures to undertake further work in order to minimise disruption. During these closures, diversions will be in place.
Councillor Ken Pollock, Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “It’s great to see work pressing ahead on this scheme to improve transport links in the Churchfields area.
“This is an important scheme of highway improvements, ahead of the delivery of housing earmarked for the area.”
To allow these works to progress full road closures, in both areas, will be required and these are planned to start week beginning Monday 10th February 2020.
The Churchfields Urban Highway Improvement Scheme, funded by partners, is being delivered by Worcestershire County Council to help ease congestion and support the delivery of new homes planned for the area.
