Reconnections are bringing their Outdoor Lounge out of the winter cold, and into the Hive this December.

The team will be at the Hive from 9:30am -1:30pm on Saturday 7th December and the event is an ideal place to take a break, pour a cup of tea and come and have a chat with one of the team.

Elaine Carolan, Interim Director of Adult Services at Worcestershire County Council said: “The Outdoor Lounge is ideal for people to come and find out more about what the Reconnections service is all about and what it can offer.

It’s an ideal opportunity for people who haven’t used the service before to take that first step in meeting new people or attending new activities in their local area.”

Sophie Pryce, Reconnections Manager at Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire said: "The aim of Reconnections is to is to improve health and wellbeing, with a focus on those who are lonely or socially isolated. Within Worcestershire up to 35,000 older people may experience loneliness and 11,500 of those are chronically lonely. Over 3,000 people have already been referred to the Reconnections service. It is a free service for the over 50s who want to connect with people, places or activities in their area. If you are feeling lonely or isolated then this could be for you."

Reconnections work with individuals over the age of 50 from all across Worcestershire on a one-to-one basis, helping them to improve their confidence and connect with local services and activities that suit their interests.

Any support given from the Reconnections team is specifically tailored to each person, and can range from confidence building with the support of a volunteer, to making connections with people and groups with common interests in the local community.

The Reconnections service is a partnership of local agencies, led by Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire. The service is currently commissioned by Worcestershire County Council, with additional funding from the local NHS Trust and National Lottery Community Fund.

If you would like to refer a lonely older person, or would like to volunteer head along to the Outdoor Lounge or call 01905 740954 or visit the Reconnections website.
