A popular Redditch walk is celebrating its six-month anniversary next week.
Walking for health groups are in abundance in Worcestershire, with more than 50 different routes. The Redditch library walking group was established in January and is holding a special celebration walk next Friday 5 July.
The walk, which takes in some of Redditch’s popular landmarks, has had more than 150 walkers attend since its launch.
Councillor John Smith, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Health and Wellbeing at Worcestershire County Council said: “Health walks such as the one in Redditch are really useful for people who don’t have the opportunity to get out and exercise often. They’re beneficial for people who want to walk with, and meet others, as well as getting fit in the process!”
The Health Walks, are run in association with Worcestershire County Council and The Ramblers Association aim to get people more active.
Anyone is welcome to join Reddi-to-Walk, just turn up at Redditch Library at 11am every alternate Friday. The next walk, and anniversary walk, is on Friday 5 July.
Drinks and biscuits will be provided upon returning to the library.
Other walks take place at libraries across the county; Evesham, Hagley, Rubery, St Johns, Stourport and The Hive in Worcester.
