MBE medal presentation

Dr Pamela Ball receives the Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to charitable fundraising in the NHS.

Dr Pamela Ball was presented with her medal by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, The Hon Lady Morrison, at Kidderminster Town Hall on Tuesday 6 August.  Over 30 members of Dr Ball's family and friends attending the ceremony held in the King Charles room at the Town Hall.

Dr Ball came to England from Jamaica on VJ Day in 1945 and began her medical training in Birmingham, becoming a well-respected surgeon, whose empathy and care for her patients was second to none.  Through her long career she has worked as a plastic surgeon at a number of local hospitals, and also in General Practice, but it is Kidderminster Hospital which over many years has significantly benefited from her care and dedication, both as a member of the medical team and as a fundraiser.

Dr Ball has given over 70 years to the Health service and is still involved in supporting Kidderminster hospital and its patients as President of the Hospital League of Friends.  She has an amazing ability to inspire others and has had a huge impact on the lives of many people.
