Autism Support Pilot for 14 to 18 year olds living in Herefordshire and Worcestershire
Herefordshire and Worcestershire NHS are excited to offer a new pilot service for teens aged 14 to 18 years with a recent Autism diagnosis. All the support is online or via telephone. Families who have a teenager diagnosed with Autism from 2020 onwards and live in Worcestershire will have access to support from two expert agencies: Brain in Hand and Autism West Midlands.
Autism West Midlands will be offering tailored post-diagnosis support and young people and families can choose from a suite of support:
- One to one support with an autism specialist (for young person or parent/carer) online/phone
- ‘Autism Confident’ online group personal development programme for young people
- Parent/carer webinars
Brain in Hand is digital technology with human support which is designed to empower young people to manage independently with day-to-day issues:
- A personalised digital self-management system
- Human support with technology
- Easy access to coping strategies tailored to each young person
