Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)

The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) is a vital year in your learning journey. It is designed to support you as a Newly Qualified Social Worker to develop your skills, knowledge and capability beyond initial qualification and strengthen your professional confidence. You will have regular and focused support and development opportunities. It also sets out what is expected of you by the end of your first year in employment.

Newly Qualified Social Workers are assessed to the Knowledge and Skills Statement (Adults) or Knowledge and Skills Statement (Children's) and, in addition, to the current Professional Capability Framework.

We offer a programme of support via

  • regular workshops
  • reflective supervision with an allocated Social Work Learning and Development Advisor or Educator
  • Advanced Practitioner support

We assess this using National Skills for Care assessment criteria and documentation.

This leads to an opportunity to gain the Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice ASYE (GCPP) - H level or Developing Professional Practice ASYE - Masters level (Adults) or Academic credits from the University of Worcester (Children's).
