What are school governors?

Governors are volunteers who work in close partnership with the headteacher to run the school to the highest standards of educational achievement for all pupils.

Who can be a governor?

Almost everyone over 18 can become a governor.

What makes a good governor?

  • the ability to apply common sense
  • enthusiasm and commitment to improve the quality of education the school provides
  • the time to attend meetings and visit the school
  • willingness to attend training
