Voices and Visions at Worcester Cathedral and The Hive 2017

2017 will be our eighteenth Voices and Visions event and for the third year we are working alongside Severn Arts, formally known as Worcestershire Youth Music.

Once again it will be held at the inspiring setting of Worcester Cathedral for the Visual Arts Exhibition and Performance Nights as well as a morning performance at The Hive.

The Programme

The Cathedral Exhibition starts on Saturday 13 May until Sunday 11th June 2017.

The theme for the Visual Arts Open this year is "Our Generation". The exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday 13 May 2017 until Sunday 11 June 2017. There will be no private view this year.

All schools are welcome to submit work. Large scale and 3D work is particularly welcome. We will endeavour to ensure that all schools and groups are represented but cannot guarantee that every piece of work submitted will be displayed due to space limitations.

Please let us know whether you are submitting artwork before Friday 10 March 2017 by completing the return slip (Appendix A) via email to Diane Thomson.

Performance Events The Cathedral

Voices and Visions at The Cathedral offers an iconic setting for live performance. The date for the Cathedral performances is Thursday 29 June and Friday 30 June

The Hive

A further performance opportunity is offered at The Hive in Worcester on Wednesday 28 June ,10:00am to 12:30pm.

Voices and Visions at The Hive offers a contemporary, award winning, public space for performances to be shared and enjoyed by all. The performance is open to family, friends and guests as well as the public using The Hive.

The theme for all performances this year is “Our Generation”

Please complete Appendix B with your offer of performance work for The Cathedral or The Hive and return it to Diane Thomson by email no later than Friday 10th March 2017


We are pleased to announce a small funding programme, enabling you to bring in professional musicians, dance artists, film-makers and drama practitioners to work with your children and young people to help produce work for the Cathedral and Hive performance events in May and June

Please note we will not be providing grants this year to engage any artists to work on the Art Exhibition element of Voices and Visions with schools.

How to apply for a grant:

Submissions for applications must be signed by the headteacher. The most you will be able to apply for is £250. Please complete appendix C which we ask you to complete and return to us by Friday 17 February 2017. We will confirm successful bids by Wednesday 8 March 2017 depending on the number and nature of applications received.
