The Trader Register is an online directory of trades people who are  commited to providing good workmanship. The scheme is administered by Trading Standards.

At present the Trader Register is open to plumbers, builders, roofers, central heating operatives and electricians.

What is it?

The Trader Register is not an approval scheme but traders who are included in the scheme have to sign up to Trading Standards' Code of Practice.

Does your business want to join?

Plumbers, builders, roofers, central heating operatives or electricians wishing to join the register should call the Trader Register team on 01905 765394.

Check traders are on it

All members of the Trader Register are given a certificate to prove they are accepted by the scheme. Check out the dummy certificate (on the right) to verify your trader. If in doubt contact the Trader Register team and check.

What if something goes wrong

We work with consumers and traders to try to resolve problems that may occur.Traders who breach the code and cause problems for consumers can be suspended pending further investigation and ultimately removed from the Trader Register.
