Time is running out to apply for secondary school places.
Applications close on 31 October, and parents are encouraged to apply before the deadline or risk pupils not getting in to their preferred choice of school.
Cllr Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Children and Families said: "Secondary school is a hugely formative time in a young person's life, and it is important that pupils are given the opportunity to study in their favoured environment. Late applications will have an impact on an applicant's chances, and so I would encourage parents to apply for secondary school places before the deadline of October 31.
"Our new admissions system will make this process easier than ever, and there are still plenty of options in place for those without access to a computer."
Parents/carers who apply after the closing date have a significantly reduced chance of getting their preferred place. Late applicants will be considered after all other applicants are given a place. They will also have to apply via the post and will get their offer posted out to them rather than emailed on the national offer day.
How to apply:
Parents can apply by registering and then using an online application process available at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
Applying online is convenient, quick and easy to do, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week up to the closing date. The secure applications are much less likely to get lost, and parents are provided with a reference number and an email confirmation once completed. The system has recently been upgraded to make it even more user-friendly, and is now available via mobiles and tablets.
Parents with no access to a computer can use their local library or contact the Worcestershire Hub who will be able to assist them with the process.
Offers are made in writing, electronically by the home local authority and emailed to the parents via the email address they provided when registering. Parents with no access to a computer will have their offer posted to them.
