A 90 minute version of Romeo and Juliet is being performed in Malvern Library on Friday 28 October at 10.30am.

Oddsocks Productions will be performing a 90-minute version of Romeo and Juliet in Malvern Library and 13 other regional libraries during October.  Billed as the ‘Bard’s Best Bits’, the show aims to entertain family audiences - with a comedy adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays.

The performance is free to attend but places are limited.  Places can be reserved by calling into Malvern Library in person, by calling the library on 01905 822722 or by emailing

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Localism and Communities said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for children to experience Shakespeare and in such a fun and engaging way.

"Our libraries offer so much more than just books, they are great venues and including arts-based activities like this performance really shows how they offer something for the whole community.

Malvern Library is just one of the stops on the Oddsocks West Midlands tour which is part of the national Celebrating Shakespeare 2016 (CS 2016) campaign. Run by the Society of Chief Librarians (SCL) and its partners, the project aims to introduce younger children to Shakespeare in a fun way, to interest teenagers in a playwright who was edgy and daring in his day, and encourage adults to revisit his works with a fresh eye.
