Get your rocks off at The Hive

The Hive will next week offer visitors the chance to take part in a Geology Trail.

Geology is all around us through the rocks and stones which make up the landscape and our buildings, and The Hive is no exception. You can pick up a booklet in the foyer which will take you on a 700 million year journey in a short trip around The Hive, explaining the different rocks you can see, and how the landscape has evolved over millions of years.

This trail is part of GeoFest, an annual celebration of the Abberley and Malvern Hills GeoPark. Trails will also be happening at Severn Valley Country Park, Severn Valley Railway, the Hive and Bewdley Museum.

GeoFest will run from Monday 1 August to Monday 8 August.

Emma Hancox, Historic Environment Record Manager, said: "We're surrounded by rocks and often take them for granted, but this trail will help explain the different types you can find inside The Hive or can view from here and give you a different perspective."

Booklets can be picked up from The Hive, which will guide people around the building and explain the different rocks and stones which they can see, but probably walk past every day without noticing.
