A pupil of St George's CE School in Kidderminster has been presented with an award for a letter she wrote to the Leader of Worcestershire Council.

Isobel Brown, aged 7, wrote a letter to Cllr Simon Geraghty, thanking Worcestershire County Council for 'looking after wild animals and helping places like playgrounds, parks and swimming pools by giving them money.' Isobel also thanked the Council for making St George's 'a pleasure to be in' and Kidderminster 'a great place to be'.

The Chairman of Worcestershire County Council, Tony Miller responded by hand-delivering a certificate to Isobel in recognition of her 'awareness of her local environment and surroundings'.

The certificate was presented to Isobel by the Chairman in front of her schoolmates at St George's last Friday. Also present was the local County Councillor Mary Rayner.

Cllr Tony Miller, Chairman of Worcestershire County Council said: "Isobel's letter really put a smile on our faces. Her awareness of environmental issues is commendable and the school and her parents should be proud of her interest in preserving the wildlife we enjoy here in Worcestershire. It was a delight to meet her and she is a wonderful ambassador for St George's."
