Worcestershire ready to celebrate Her Majesty's 90th Birthday

Published Tuesday, 31st May 2016

Worcestershire is now in the final preparation stages for a weekend of celebration in June to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's 90th Birthday.

Events over the weekend of the 11 and 12 June 2016 include a 90 boat flotilla along the Severn, events and activities for the children at the Hive, The Big Sing, a concert at the University Arena involving school children from across the county, Go Dad Run running event at Worcester Racecourse and an invitation only tea party at the Guildhall for ninety 90 year olds.

In addition to these events there is also the chance to record your own memories via video of The Queen in our unique vox pop project called '90 years in 90 seconds'.

Every video submitted will be archived by Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service supported by Media Archive Central England (MACE). This means that the great, great grandchildren of those living in Worcestershire in 2016 will have a direct link to this moment in time in the future!

The Lord Lieutenant, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft said: "This weekend shows Worcestershire coming together to celebrate Her Majesty's 90th Birthday. There really is something for all ages and it promises to be a most enjoyable weekend."
