Learn your Copyright with Archive and Archaeology Service

Published Wednesday, 11th May 2016

As requested by archive users, copyright will be the focus of the latest Explore Archives workshop.

The archives held at The Hive are heavily used and many people want to take copies for their own research or for use in exhibitions or publications, especially photographs. WAAS staff regularly advise people about seeking permission, and it can be quite complex, especially as items held are often privately owned. The workshops do not provide legal advice, but staff will explain the background to copyright with archives and issues that need to be borne in mind for archive users.

The workshop will take place at The Hive on Tuesday 24 May from 2-4pm.

Dr Lisa Snook, User Services Manager, said: "Copyright is something we regularly get asked about, as people often want to take copies from the archives. We hope that this workshop will help to explain what people can do, when they need to get permission, and how to go about it."
